Helping Clients Increase Self-Regulation Capacity Through an Understanding of the Nervous System
Help Clients Regulate — and Recover — from Stress and Trauma
In today’s fast-paced, high-stress world, clients are showing up more dysregulated than ever. As helping professionals, we know that insight alone isn’t enough — true healing requires nervous system balance.
This workshop will deepen your understanding of the Stress Response System (SRS) and equip you with practical, evidence-based tools to help clients restore regulation, resilience, and connection.
Led by Lynn Jimenez, LCSW, a clinician and educator with over 20 years of experience specializing in trauma, attachment, and nervous system dysregulation, this engaging training blends theory, science, and experiential practice — so you walk away ready to apply what you learn immediately.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll explore how stress and trauma shape the nervous system — and how to guide clients back to safety and stability.
By the end of this training, you’ll be able to:
Identify signs of a dysregulated and regulated nervous system
Compare three major models of activation:
• Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges, PhD)
• Arousal Continuum (Bruce Perry, MD, PhD)
• Window of Tolerance (Daniel Siegel, MD)
Teach clients about their Stress Response System with clear psychoeducation
Facilitate interventions that support bottom-up, top-down, and in-out regulation
Integrate regulation practices into treatment planning and between-session work
Practical, Research-Based Interventions
Learn and practice techniques supported by leading research — simple, effective, and ready to use in your next session.
Through live demonstration, guided practice, and role play, you’ll gain confidence in facilitating these interventions and integrating them into diverse clinical contexts.
Invest in Your Growth — and Your Clients’ Healing
Understanding and teaching nervous system regulation changes everything — from how clients experience stress to how they recover from trauma and connect with others.
