Learning a less diluted version of Black History in America

In honor of Black History month I want to highlight the books that I have helped me begin to learn about the ACTUAL history of Black Americans. These are not easy reads, but they are important reads.

I definitely recommend supporting local libraries to keep them open - but if you are going to purchase your book, feel free to make your purchase from Fulton Street Books - a black, woman owned bookstore that invests in the community and supports literacy. How amazing is that?!

Book Ideas:

The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander

Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson

How to be an Anti-Racist by Ibram Kendi

Not much of a reader? Try these:

My going to read list is much longer...so stay tuned for more recommendations - and feel free to send me yours!
